A detailed and comprehensive account of the history of racing at Stockbridge from the first 3-day meeting in August 1753 to the last meeting in July 1898. It includes references to the Cannon and Day families, patronage by George IV and Edward VII, headquarters of the Bibury club, and famous owners, riders and horses of the nineteenth century. In its heyday in the 1860s and 70s it rivalled Goodwood! The article includes some interesting photographs.
